Not necessarily. Many homeowners stay during rewiring, though it's disruptive. Power will be shut off to specific areas during work (we'll provide a schedule). You'll have limited access to affected rooms, and there will be dust and noise. For whole-house rewiring, some homeowners prefer to stay elsewhere for a few days. We work efficiently to minimize downtime—most projects take 5-10 days. You can stay, but plan for inconvenience.

In most cases, yes. Whole-house rewiring typically requires opening walls to access old wiring and install new wiring safely. We make strategic cuts to minimize damage and use existing pathways (attics, crawl spaces, basements) whenever possible. We don't do drywall repair—you'll need to hire a contractor to patch and paint walls after rewiring is complete. If you're already renovating, rewiring is the perfect time since walls are already open.

Aluminum wiring (common in homes built 1965-1975) is a fire hazard. Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper, causing connections to loosen over time, which can spark fires. Many insurance companies won't cover homes with aluminum wiring or charge higher premiums. Replacing aluminum with copper wiring eliminates this fire risk, improves home safety, and may lower insurance costs. We recommend replacement for all homes with aluminum wiring.
